Turkey's Transport Minister Discusses Timeline for Opening of the Zangezur Corridor

Turkey expects to implement the project for the creation of the Zangezur Corridor by 2029. This was stated by the country's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, as reported by Interfax.

"The Azerbaijani part of the 'Zangezur Corridor', from Baku to Horadiz, is nearing completion. The length of the Turkish section of the corridor is 224 km. Overall, the entire process of creating this corridor will take five years. I believe that we will completely finish all the works by 2028," Uraloglu said in an interview with the Turkish TV channel tvnet.

The minister added that construction is ongoing in the section from Horadiz to Ordubad (Nakhchivan), excluding the part that passes through Armenian territory. "The reconstruction of an existing road, approximately 100 km long, that connects Nakhchivan to Turkey will be required, and its continuation will be the Iğdır-Kars railway, for which competitive procedures have already been conducted, and construction will begin this year," Uraloglu noted.
