VIDEO: Airplane Window Torn Off Mid-Flight, Forces Emergency Landing
An Alaska Airlines passenger aircraft made an emergency landing in Portland, Oregon after a window and a portion of the fuselage tore away during the flight. CBS News reports that the plane was en route to California but had to return to the airport half an hour into the journey. Onboard were 174 passengers and 6 crew members, all of whom remained unharmed. The landing was successful.
It is known that the damaged Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft was delivered to the airline in October 2023. Boeing representatives are conducting an investigation. Earlier, Boeing asked carriers to inspect new 737 MAX aircraft, as there could have been a loosening of screws in the flight control system. Two instances of malfunction have already been identified.
