VIDEO: Death Toll Rises After Train Collision in Indonesia

Edita

In the Java island of Indonesia, four people have been killed and 22 injured following a collision between two passenger trains. This was reported by the media outlet Kompas TV.

It is noted that one of the trains had 287 passengers onboard, while the other carried 191. The victims were railway company employees, including the train driver, his assistant, a conductor, and a security staff member.

The collision occurred at approximately 06:03 local time (03:03 Yerevan time) in the Cikalenha–Haurpugur section. Heavy machinery has been sent to clear the tracks, and passengers were evacuated from the accident site using ambulances.

According to preliminary assumptions, the cause of the collision could be the malfunctioning communication lines, which hampered communication between the drivers. Earlier, it was reported that two trains had collided in West Java province of Indonesia this morning.
