Tesla Recalls Over 1 Million Electric Vehicles from China
The American company Tesla is recalling more than 1.6 million electric vehicles from China due to software-related issues. This was reported by Reuters, citing a statement from China's State Administration for Market Regulation.
The software update by Tesla will be implemented remotely and is characterized in China as a product recall. It will affect vehicles produced between 2014-2023, specifically the Chinese-made Model 3 and Model Y, as well as the imported Model S and Model X.
The update aims to address corrections in the autopilot system, which has been linked to a number of accidents. Additionally, 7,500 imported Teslas are facing issues related to door locking mechanisms.
Tesla's stock price fell by 0.3% in early trading on January 5. Prior to this recall in its second-largest market, the automaker recalled over 2 million electric vehicles in the U.S. in December to update the autopilot system, as well as over 120,000 vehicles due to potential issues with the door locking mechanism.
