Individuals Connected to Terrorist Explosions Arrested in Iran

In the city of Kerman, located in southeastern Iran, several individuals involved in the explosions that occurred during mourning processions marking the fourth anniversary of General Qasem Soleimani's death have been arrested. This was announced by the country’s Minister of Interior, Ahmad Vahidi. The information has been relayed by RIA Novosti.

“Intelligence agencies have been able to find good leads. Several individuals connected to the incident have been arrested, and information about them will be released later by the security services,” the minister’s words were quoted by the IRNA agency.

According to the agency, the current death toll stands at 89, including 12 children under the age of 15, with a total of 284 people injured as a result of the incidents. The explosions, as noted by another Iranian agency, Tasnim, were carried out remotely; two explosive-laden bags were found not far from the entrance to Kerman's cemetery.

The Iranian government had declared a national day of mourning for the victims a day prior, and President Ebrahim Raisi, who postponed a planned visit to Turkey, stated that the perpetrators and those who ordered the terrorist acts would be revealed by the Islamic Republic's security forces and law enforcement agencies and would be duly punished.

In turn, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated in his address that those who carried out and organized the terrorism would become targets for just punishment, and they should understand that the disaster they have created will be met with a “stern response.”
