Death Toll from Earthquake in Japan Rises as People Lose Contact with the Outside World
More than 780 people have lost contact with the outside world following an earthquake in Japan's Ishikawa Prefecture. This was reported during a press conference in Tokyo by Yoshihisa Aoyama, the Chief Secretary of the Japanese Government.
According to the latest data, the earthquake has claimed 92 lives, injured 464 individuals, and 16 people are officially considered missing.
Emergency response operations involve 4,600 personnel from self-defense forces. It is noteworthy that a series of powerful earthquakes struck Ishikawa Prefecture on the afternoon of January 1, leading to a tsunami warning in certain areas of Japan's western coast.
Buildings have been damaged due to the underground tremors, and the operation of bullet trains has been halted, with power outages affecting more than 32,000 homes.
