VIDEO: Germany and France at Risk of Flooding

Edita

Germany and France continue to face the threat of flooding. In Germany, heavy rains have led to overflowing rivers and flooding in populated areas, particularly affecting the regions of Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, and Lower Saxony.

In France, ten departments in the western and northern parts of the country are also at risk of flooding. In the Pas-de-Calais department in the north, approximately 1,500 people have been left without electricity due to severe flooding, as reported by the department's prefecture. According to the latest data published on the Pas-de-Calais prefecture's website, '1,450 consumers remain without electric power.'

Meanwhile, residents of some communities, numbering around 2,100, are facing water usage restrictions after surface runoff water entered drainage basins. In response, authorities have organized the distribution of bottled water.

Since the onset of flooding a few days ago, 198 operations have been carried out to evacuate residents from their homes. There are currently no reports of injuries among the affected population.

Following directives from France’s Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, 120 rescuers have been dispatched to the region to assist local services.
