Supreme Judicial Council President Karen Andreasyan Sends Open Letter to Santa Claus
Supreme Judicial Council President Karen Andreasyan has sent an open letter to Santa Claus and all kind-hearted people. He announced this on his Facebook page.
“I dream that in 2024 my five requests will be fulfilled. The last unique corrupt officials hiding in the judicial system after so many purges, appeals, and warnings will be exposed and convicted. Also, all the institutions and individuals responsible for delaying or sabotaging well-known criminal cases will be revealed. All of this should be disclosed so that the entire judicial system is no longer discredited or undermined because of the mistakes of others or 4-5 judges.
The situation remains dire regarding the overload of administrative justice. Last year, we resolved most of the issues concerning civil, criminal, and anti-corruption courts, and people will begin to find justice in reasonable timeframes starting in the spring of 2024. However, the situation remains catastrophic concerning delays in administrative courts. The legislative draft that would alleviate this issue is ready, and I hope that all our proposals to solve this serious problem will be implemented next year.
The courts in Gavar, Martuni, and Sisian are in a dismal state, and our facilities in Abovyan, Hrazdan, Vanadzor, and Dilijan are in very sad conditions. A citizen entering such a courthouse is unlikely to hold the judicial system and its acts in high regard. Next year, we must ensure that no courthouse building is shameful.
Judicial staff (assistants, secretaries, clerks, etc.) currently receive salaries of 100,000 to 200,000 drams and perform painstaking work that is extremely important for all your fates. I sincerely request that their salaries be increased.
We need a new evaluation system for judges, so regardless of who is in the Supreme Judicial Council, judges will be motivated to perform high-quality work. This means promotions, transfers, and awards for judges should be fair, so they can also be just towards you. The new evaluation system has been developed; we just need to test it in the coming spring, and then it will be officially enacted.
Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to all!” Andreasyan stated in his letter to Santa Claus.
