5000 Dram Fine for Not Paying Parking Fees

5000 Dram Fine for Not Paying Parking Fees

The newspaper "Joghovurd" reports that starting January 1, citizens will be required to pay a fine of 5000 dram for not paying the established fee for parking in Yerevan's "A" and "B" zones.

For instance, if a car is parked for several days in a red-zoned parking space without payment, a daily fine of 5000 dram will be applicable. New rates for red zone parking are set to be introduced in Yerevan starting January 1.

In the "A" zone, the rates are as follows: 300 dram for one hour, 2000 dram for one day, 5000 dram for one week, 18000 dram for one month, and 160000 dram for one year. In the "B" zone, the rates are: 200 dram for one hour, 1000 dram for one day, 2000 dram for one week, 4000 dram for one month, and 24000 dram for one year.

Previously, the annual parking fee for all of Yerevan was just 12000 dram, instead of 160000 or 24000 dram.

According to the Yerevan City Hall, the "A" zone is considered the Downtown, while the surrounding areas outside the Downtown where red zoning exists are classified as the "B" zone. For example, the end section of Tigran Mets Avenue, which is considered part of the Downtown, can also be classified as a "B" zone.
