Mother Sent Child Abuse Video to Prison: New Details

The newspaper "Zhoghavorud" reports that, according to its sources, in addition to Anna Arevshatyan, the mother who exhibited cruel treatment towards her child, another person has been charged in connection with the case. It has come to light that the charges were brought against another inmate who is currently in custody with the children's father, also serving a sentence for pedophilia.

The investigation revealed that the mother filmed such videos and sent them to another inmate in the same cell at Nubarashen Prison where her husband is being held. The reason for sending these specific videos was that the mother was promised social support in exchange for them.

"Zhoghavorud" had previously reported that a search was conducted at Nubarashen Prison, particularly in the cell of the father, Manvel Madatyan, who committed sexual violence. What was discovered?

According to the information received by "Zhoghavorud," there were mobile phones found in the cell, and Tatul Madatyan also had a phone containing valuable materials for the case. Recall that on August 18, a video of the cruel treatment of the child was posted on social media. Later, the Armenian police announced that the woman had been located; she is a 34-year-old resident of Gavar. A criminal case was initiated against her, and on August 19, the mother was arrested and is currently held at the "Abovyan" penitentiary facility.

Based on the evidence obtained, on August 19, 2023, public criminal prosecution was launched against the children's mother, and she was charged under Article 196, Part 2, Points 3, 4, and 6 of the RA Criminal Code (causing physical pain or severe mental suffering to a minor with particular cruelty). She was also charged under Article 198, Part 3, Points 1 and 2 (committing sexual violence against a person who is under 12 to 14 years of age by a close relative or a person responsible for the upbringing, care, or treatment of the child).

Additionally, charges were filed under Article 239, Part 2, Points 1 and 2 (using information or communication technologies to entice or involve a child in acts related to producing or distributing pornographic materials, committed by a person responsible for the upbringing, care, or treatment of the child), and under Article 300, Part 3, Points 1 and 2 (producing, distributing, or storing pornographic materials or objects by a close relative, which is accompanied by cruel treatment of a minor).
