Armenian Film Advances to the Second Round of Oscar Shortlist

The film "American" directed by Mikayel Gurginyan has made it to the second round of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Oscars in the category of Best International Feature Film, alongside 15 other films.

According to the awards ceremony's website, these 15 films were selected from 88 entries submitted by various countries in the first round. The final shortlist will be announced on January 24, 2024, with 5 films making it to the final list.

This marks the first time any Armenian film has reached the second round of this prestigious category.
