Authorities Deceived on Both Artsakh and Price Increases: Haik Marutyan

The authorities did not speak about the price increases of red lines during the election period, because even then, 'Public Voice' would not have helped them elect a mayor. This was stated today by former Yerevan Mayor and current city council member Haik Marutyan during a briefing with reporters.

'It is clear why they did not speak about it, for the same reason they did not talk about the impending tragic developments regarding the Artsakh issue before the 2021 elections. They spoke about Artsakh's self-determination, the de-occupation of Hadrut and Shushi, even including those points in their election platform. What happened just a few months after the elections? They forgot the word self-determination, they also forgot the word 'Artsakh.' The same populism and the same deceit are present now,' said Marutyan.

It should be noted that Haik Marutyan, elected on the 'National Progress' party list, attended a city council meeting for the first time since the new council was formed. When asked by a journalist why he had not been present at the meetings until now, Marutyan responded that 99 percent of a council member's duties are outside the chamber, and he has been occupied with that.
