Criminal Prosecution Against Robert Kocharian Halted

The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan has decided to halt the criminal prosecution against Robert Kocharian, the second President of Armenia, without grounds for justification.

As a reminder, according to the accusation, Kocharian, utilizing his official position, facilitated actions in favor of Silva Hambardzumyan, the director of 'TSS Armenia.' Specifically, he is alleged to have received a $3 million bribe in February and May 2008, with the assistance of Samvel Mayrapetyan, for not obstructing the sale of the company’s 100 percent share to a non-resident company in Armenia under the guise of exploration licenses for exploiting mineral resources.

He was charged under part 4 of article 311 of the RA Criminal Code for receiving a particularly large bribe.
