VIDEO. Russian Forces Fully Capture the City of Maryinka, Shoigu Informs Putin
Russian forces have fully taken control of the city of Maryinka, located in the southwest of Donetsk, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin.
According to Shoigu, the capture of the city will reduce the capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces and allow Russian troops to more effectively defend Donetsk. “Importantly, we have significantly moved artillery operations westward from Donetsk,” he stated.
Putin agreed that the control over Maryinka would withdraw combat units of the Ukrainian armed forces and enable Russia to “enter a broader operational space.” He mentioned that those who captured the city are deserving of state awards.
