This is an economic association that should not have political and geopolitical agenda: Pashinyan
Nikol Pashinyan welcomed attendees at the Eurasian Economic Union's Supreme Council meeting ongoing in Saint Petersburg and noted that during the meeting, the year's work will be summarized, and outlines for further development within the union will be outlined.
“We hope for the support of member countries and effective cooperation in implementing the tasks we have set forth. It is symbolic that Armenia's presidency coincides with the anniversary of joining the council,” Pashinyan stated and continued, “This is an economic association that should not have a political and especially a geopolitical agenda. We continue to perceive it in its own capacity and develop cooperation within the framework of our economic collaboration.”
According to Pashinyan, the basic freedom of trade and integration cannot and should not be linked to political ambitions. “I believe we should limit political considerations, as they will undoubtedly lead to the erosion of fundamental principles. In this context, the Armenian side considers it important to sign a declaration on the further development of economic processes until 2030 and 2045, based on the conceptual and priority directions for the mid-term and long-term development of Eurasian cooperation.”
The Armenian side welcomes the signing of a free trade agreement with Iran, which will contribute to strengthening trade, economic, logistical, and transport relations with Iran and will allow for establishing a solid contractual basis for joint projects. “Dear colleagues, however, a number of fundamentally unresolved issues have accumulated that require urgent solutions,” Pashinyan said.
