Samvel Shahramanyan Faces Difficult Decision, Political Scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan Says

Today, I met with the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan. After familiarizing him with the content of my open letter, the President asked me to present my position and arguments in more detail. I must say honestly that I am satisfied with the course of our conversation. Samvel Shahramanyan is faced with the necessity of making a difficult decision and wants to understand all the pros and cons at this stage.

This was stated by political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan on his Facebook page.

“I am confident that my approaches were acceptable to him. However, his concerns are also significant. I thank Mr. Shahramanyan for this discussion. I am hopeful that by the end of the year, the authorities of Artsakh will adopt what I believe is the only correct decision and will announce the annulment of the decree of September 28. Dear compatriots, for that decision to be made, each of us also has important work to do. We must stand behind the statehood of Artsakh and its authorities. I am sure many of you have seen the campaign that has begun against Artsakh. The enemy wants the Republic of Artsakh to be dissolved by January 1, 2024.

I believe it is our duty to obstruct this destructive path in every way possible. We must resist all manifestations of anti-Artsakh propaganda and urge the political elite of Artsakh to resist all types of difficulties until the end in order to save the remnants of statehood. I assure you that those seeds will undoubtedly bear fruit,” he wrote.
