VIDEO: "Don't Teach Me!" Tense Situation During HFF Presidential Elections
Before the start of the HFF presidential election, the president of the Urartu football club, Jivan Cheloyants, posed a question, but he was attempted to be silenced as the question was asked in Russian. Nevertheless, Jivan Cheloyants proceeded to ask whether Armen Melikbekyan's candidacy was legitimate. According to him, the current president of the HFF should resign before the election.
“Armen Melikbekyan's candidacy has been submitted in a completely legitimate manner, and it has passed the compliance check by the electoral committee. No clause or article in the charter mandates that the current president must resign or perform other functions, and the existing charter allows the current president to continue leading until the day of the elections,” said HFF Secretary General Arthur Azaryan.
The Secretary General also admonished Jivan Cheloyants once again for speaking in Russian, as the official language for the meeting is Armenian. “I speak Russian excellently, and you know this very well. You are at an HFF meeting, where the official language is Armenian. After living and managing a club in Armenia for 7 years, you could have easily spoken Armenian,” Arthur Azaryan pointed out.
The president of the Urartu club responded from his seat, “Don’t teach me what I can or cannot do. I have already learned what I needed a long time ago. First of all, 95 percent of the population of Armenia is against Melikbekyan. We will see about that after the elections.”
It is noteworthy that there were two candidates for the HFF presidency: the current president Armen Melikbekyan and former Armenian national football team player Aras Oznibyliz. During the recent session of the Armenian Football Federation (HFF), the current president Armen Melikbekyan was re-elected to the presidency. For more details, see the video.
