Italian Football Federation Opposes Super League
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has issued a statement regarding the potential launch of the Super League.
“Following the European Court's ruling on the so-called Super League case, the Italian Football Federation, fully recognizing its affiliation with UEFA and FIFA, reaffirms its commitment to protecting national championships, aiming to uphold broader and common principles of respect for sporting merits and international calendars. Therefore, in accordance with national laws and international regulations, we find that the Super League is not a compatible project under these conditions and will always act in all stadiums in pursuit of the overall interests of Italian football,” the statement reads.
On December 21, the European Court ruled that FIFA's and UEFA's actions to block the creation of the Super League were illegal. Subsequently, the format of the European competition was revealed.
