Cause of Illness in Children on Tyumen-Adler Train Revealed
Rospotrebnadzor has identified the cause of illness in children traveling on the Tyumen-Adler train, discovering that they were infected with the influenza A virus. This information was reported to journalists by the Rospotrebnadzor department of the Saratov region. The information is relayed by RIA Novosti.
"Specialists from the Rospotrebnadzor department of Saratov region swiftly determined the cause of the illness among the children who were returning from a camp on the Tyumen-Adler train. Initial laboratory tests revealed the presence of the flu virus among the children with acute respiratory infections," the statement said.
All necessary anti-epidemic measures are being fully implemented. Investigators in the Penza region have opened a criminal case regarding the death of a 12-year-old girl in the organized group traveling by the Tyumen-Adler train. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Russia on their Telegram channel.
Earlier, the governor of Saratov region, Roman Busargin, had announced that a group of 125 children returning from camp was removed from the Tyumen-Adler train and sent to an infectious disease hospital due to a rise in temperature in one of the children, to check for the presence of illnesses. He later clarified that about 30 boys had complained of fever.
RIA Novosti was informed by the administration of the Sergachsky district in the Penza region that one child had died on the Tyumen-Adler train, and her body was removed in Sergach. "A criminal case has been initiated by the Penza region's investigative authorities of the Russian Investigative Committee regarding the girl's death on the intercity train. According to the investigation, on the evening of December 20, 2023, the health of a 12-year-old girl in the organized group deteriorated aboard the Tyumen-Adler train. Emergency workers arrived at the train's location in the Penza region, where they registered the child's death. A forensic examination has been appointed to ascertain the exact cause of death," the report stated.
According to the agency, on Thursday night, the train arrived at the Balashov station in Saratov region, where, following a medical examination, the children were transferred to a Saratov hospital, prompting Saratov investigators to conduct a procedural check.
