They Will Face Heavier Consequences: Yemen Threatens to Attack US Ships in the Red Sea

The Yemeni "Ansar Allah" (Houthi) rebel movement is set to respond to any US attacks by targeting American ships in the Red Sea. This announcement was made by Houthi leader Abdel Malik al-Houthi during a speech broadcasted on Al Masirah television. The information was reported by TASS.

“Any American attack on our country will result in a retaliatory strike. We will target American ships in the Red Sea with our missiles and drones. If the US sends its troops to Yemen, they should expect even heavier consequences than those faced in Afghanistan and Vietnam,” emphasized al-Houthi.

Following the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in Gaza, the Houthis have declared that they will strike Israeli territory and will not allow related vessels to pass through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait until operations in Gaza cease. Since mid-November, several commercial and military vessels have been attacked from territories controlled by 'Ansar Allah' in the Red Sea. Additionally, the Houthis have seized the Galaxy Leader cargo ship, which had a crew of more than 20 members.

In response to the Houthi actions, US officials have announced the formation of an international coalition to ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and initiate protective operations for vessels. The participating nations are expected to include Bahrain, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, the Seychelles, and France. For its part, the movement's official representative Muhammad Abdel Salam informed TASS that the establishment of the coalition will not affect the Houthis' decision to attack commercial vessels related to Israel.
