Robert Kocharian's Office Responds to Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has once again made false statements regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process. This was stated by Bagrat Mikoyan, the head of the office of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, in response to the Prime Minister's interview with Public Television the day before.

“Yesterday, the Prime Minister loudly reiterated another dose of lies that he has repeatedly recounted about the negotiation process. Although we are already quite tired of disproving the obvious falsehoods each time, nonetheless, for the sake of reminder, I will bring some references to what we have talked about multiple times. No matter how much the Prime Minister tries to escape responsibility for the lost war and the depopulation of Artsakh, it remains entirely on his conscience. Unfortunately, it is not those who should be tormented by their conscience, but rather those who actually have a conscience,” the statement read.

Recall that Nikol Pashinyan, during his appearance on Public Television yesterday, spoke about the negotiation process and stated that there has never been an option in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue that would propose a solution to the matter. According to him, since the Madrid principles, all options presented have implied no resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. In other words, there has not been a document that, upon signing, would be considered as having resolved the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. According to him, such an option existed only in 1999, which, if signed, could have been claimed to have resolved the Nagorno-Karabakh issue; this was the exchange option of Meghri and Nagorno-Karabakh, which would have closed the issue. In this case, the Meghri region would be handed over to Azerbaijan, and Nagorno-Karabakh would be reunited with Armenia.
