Fire Breaks Out After Car Accident in Vayk; Officer Sustains Burns

A fire broke out today in Vayots Dzor following a car accident, resulting in burns to one of the drivers. According to shamshyan.com, the injured party is employed as a senior officer in the patrol service of the Vayots Dzor Police.

It was reported that around 08:30, a collision occurred in the administration area of Vayk city on the Yerevan-Meghri highway involving a Range Rover driven by Gevorg Gevorgyan, a resident of Yerevan, and a Mercedes driven by Gegham Hovakimyan from Vayots Dzor region.

As a result of the collision, a fire erupted in the Mercedes, while the Range Rover veered off the roadway and collided with an electrical pole. Gegham Hovakimyan sustained varying degrees of burns and was transported to the National Institute of Burn Medicine in Yerevan.

Firefighters extinguished the flames in the vehicle, but it was rendered completely inoperable. An investigation has been initiated in response to the incident. Preliminary information suggests that the cause of the accident was black ice on the roadway.
