Explosion at Indian Explosives Factory Leaves Casualties
At least seven workers have been killed, and several others injured in an explosion that occurred on Sunday morning at an explosives factory in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, according to reports from Reuters citing local police officials.
The explosion took place around 8:30 AM local time (3:00 AM GMT) at the facility belonging to Solar Industries India. The company produces industrial and military explosives, as well as propellants and warheads for India’s defense sector.
The injured have been transported to nearby hospitals, although the death toll may rise. Authorities are still investigating the causes of the explosion, which occurred in the factory's packaging department.
