Details from Israel on the Three Hostages Killed
The IDF has revealed new details regarding the deaths of three hostages killed last Friday. The information comes from the BBC.
According to an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) representative, one of the soldiers saw the hostages exiting a building without shirts and wielding a stick wrapped in a white cloth. The soldier felt there was a threat and opened fire, believing that those individuals were terrorists.
Two hostages were immediately killed, while another was wounded and fled the building. Subsequently, the soldiers heard cries for help in Hebrew. Following that, the soldiers opened fire again, resulting in the death of that hostage as well.
“The three hostages could have thrown themselves or run away,” speculated sources in Israel. “I will state clearly: this was against our rules of engagement,” said the IDF representative.
Previously, the Israeli army reported that its soldiers mistakenly killed three Israeli hostages, confusing them with militants from Hamas, which is designated as a terrorist organization by the US and the EU.
