Alexis Ohanian's Grandfather Passes Away, Would Have Turned 102 in a Month

John Ohanian, the grandfather of American-Armenian entrepreneur and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, has passed away. Alexis announced the news on social media. John Ohanian would have turned 102 in a month, and he was buried on December 14.

“He was an ancestor of Olympias and Adira, a man whose 101-year journey became a testament to the resilience, dedication, and enduring strength of our family. He was born after the Armenian Genocide and endured tremendous trials in his youth. His parents instilled a sense of self-sufficiency in him,” wrote Alexis.

The entrepreneur also noted that his grandfather was a lawyer who had a remarkable career in that field. Alexis wrote that John Ohanian's defining trait was his self-confidence.

“Grandpa, I know your journey was not easy, but it helped us overcome the challenges faced by three new generations of the Ohanian family, reaching opportunities that your parents could only dream of,” the entrepreneur added.
