Legitimate Concerns Regarding the Russian Platform: Khandanyan

There are legitimate concerns regarding the Russian platform, considering the fact that the guarantor party to the November 9, 2020 document was Russia. Unfortunately, today we find ourselves in a situation where the main fundamental issues included in that document regarding the security of the Artsakh Armenians and their ability to remain in Artsakh have not been realized and have been disrupted.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of Armenia, Sargis Khandanyan, during parliamentary briefings.

He noted that there is a certain process regarding negotiations on a peace agreement, and it is important to ensure the continuity of that logic: “Discussions around the peace agreement have already taken place in the previous period. That is why Armenia notes that there is a question of effectiveness, particularly, so that this process continues and we do not return to a zero point and start discussing fundamental issues again,” he said.

Khandanyan emphasized once more that Armenia is ready for negotiations: “Unfortunately, in recent months it has been Azerbaijan that has been avoiding negotiations and not participating in them. Our expectation from our partners is that they bring Azerbaijan to the negotiating table.”
