VIDEO: Figure Skater Roman Kostomarov Shows How He Skates on Ice with Amputated Limbs

Russian figure skater Roman Kostomarov has demonstrated how he skates on ice with amputated limbs. “As I promised… Only my parents saw my first steps on the ice in my childhood. I can say that I am learning again, and now the whole country will see my first steps,” wrote the Olympic champion on social media.

He mentioned that everything has been carefully documented by a film crew accompanying him and his wife, Oksana, every day. “It will be a great film; the title is still a secret, but you can suggest your options in the comments. All the details will come a little later. But the premiere is on March 8. In the meantime, I will continue to train,” he wrote.

Recall that in mid-January, the 45-year-old athlete's condition sharply worsened, and he began experiencing severe chest pains. Doctors diagnosed him with sepsis and left-sided pneumonia, which, according to some reports, progressed to bilateral pneumonia. On February 7, the figure skater had his foot amputated to remove necrosis that developed amid the inflammatory process. Later, the second foot and then his hands were also amputated.
