Iran's Foreign Minister Proposes Referendum Involving Palestinian Residents
The only common ground between Iran and Israel is the prevailing skepticism regarding the possibility of creating two independent states in historic Palestine. Tehran has proposed conducting a self-determination referendum among the descendants of the indigenous inhabitants of those territories. This was stated by Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian during a forum held in Doha, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“Israel is an occupying regime, and therefore, a self-determination referendum must be held with the participation of the original inhabitants of Palestine and their descendants—Muslims, Christians, and Jews—before 1948, so that they can decide their future,” the minister stated.
