Putin Announces Intention to Run for Presidential Elections
Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced his intention to run for re-election in the 2024 presidential elections. "I will announce my candidacy for the position of President of the Russian Federation," said Putin after a ceremony in the Kremlin where he awarded the "Gold Star" medal to Russia's heroes.
The presidential elections are scheduled for March 17, 2024, with the campaign set to begin in December 2023. The inauguration of the newly elected president has been slated for May 7, 2024.
On election day, polling stations will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The first polling stations to open will be in the easternmost regions of Russia, while the last ones will be in the westernmost areas.
On February 21, during his address to the Federal Assembly, Vladimir Putin stated that the election campaigns for 2023 and 2024 will be conducted in strict accordance with the law and will observe all democratic constitutional procedures.
