“Baku Has Always Been Ready for Continuing Negotiations, Which We Cannot Say About Our Armenian Partners,” Zakharova

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on the meeting of the Armenian-Azerbaijani delimitation and demarcation commissions: “We welcome this meeting. In the framework of starting practical work on delimitation, the parties have agreed on methodological and practical issues. This also includes the provision of necessary cartographic materials. Specifically, this was discussed yesterday during a meeting with the Azerbaijani counterpart by Minister Lavrov.

Secondly, we have previously pointed out that tangible results have been recorded in the activities of the deputy prime ministers, and we believe that further delays will act against the interests of the countries in the region. Baku has always been ready to continue negotiations, which we cannot say about our Armenian partners. Perhaps they think that their new consultants from Washington, Brussels, and Paris will have new, interesting significant proposals. We have seen what previous meetings in Prague and Brussels have led to. It is precisely with the support of the West that the issues of the security and rights of the Armenians in Karabakh have not been mentioned at all. They always operate within the framework of their own interests, while other countries serve the interests of their own benefits.”
