Nine Family Members, Including Children, Hospitalized
On December 6, a case of carbon monoxide poisoning occurred in Yerevan. Around 08:30, the Armenia Medical Center notified the police department of the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Mashtots division that a team of emergency medical personnel had transported several citizens diagnosed with “carbon monoxide poisoning” from one of the houses on Karapetyan Street.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, a patrol team from the Mashtots police division, led by a community policing officer, was dispatched to the hospital. The police established that the individuals transported were residents of one of the houses on Karapetyan Street: 33-year-old Haik Avagyan, 55-year-old Julieta Hakobjanyan, 33-year-old Inga Stepanyan, 31-year-old Rima Martirosyan, and 24-year-old Nazeni Avagyan.
On the same day, around 10:00, a report was made to the Mashtots police from the Muratsan Medical Center that emergency medical personnel had transported 11-year-old David A., 6-year-old Arianna A., 4-year-old Leo A., and 7-year-old Julia A. with a diagnosis of “carbon monoxide poisoning.”
Representatives from Gazprom Armenia arrived at the reported address and found that the cause of the incident was an illegally connected gas appliance located in a semi-basement, which had emitted toxic fumes that led to the poisoning of the family members. Police documents have been prepared regarding the incident and submitted to the Investigative Committee of Armenia’s Yerevan Investigative Department for the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts.
