Zakhrova on the Situation at Upper Lars
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, addressed the situation at Upper Lars during a press briefing, which some representatives of the Armenian authorities have dubbed political pressure.
“Some representatives of the Armenian government consider this to be political pressure, while others do not. Another fact that proves this is not the opinion of the entire country, let alone the entire political institution, is that days ago, within the framework of dialogue between the relevant agencies of Armenia and Russia, discussions took place at the Eurasian Economic Commission specifically regarding the issues raised by Armenian partners about the transportation of cargo through the multilateral checkpoint at Upper Lars, as well as with regards to the export of Armenian agricultural products,” Zakharova stated, adding that the discussions were held in a substantive and constructive atmosphere.
She emphasized that clear mechanisms for resolving such problematic situations are in place and are currently being activated.
