7-Year-Old Boy Falls and Hits Head on Curb While Running from Dogs: Investigative Committee on the Tragic Incident in Surenavan
The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death of a 7-year-old resident of Surenavan village, Ararat region. On December 6, 2023, at 09:23 AM, a call was received from the Ararat Medical Center to the Ararat police department, reporting that a child from Surenavan village was found dead due to an attack by stray dogs, diagnosed as ‘biological death’.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 155, Part 2, Point 5 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. According to preliminary information gathered during the investigation, on December 6, 2023, around 08:30 AM, while walking to the local secondary school, stray dogs chased a group of children near the Culture House. The children began to run, during which the 7-year-old boy slipped and fell onto the paved ground, hitting his head against the curb, resulting in his death.
An examination of the scene has been conducted, and a forensic expert examination of the body has been appointed. Instructions have been given to the relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia to carry out operational and investigative measures. The investigation is ongoing.
Note: The accused party is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the criminal procedure legislation of Armenia by a legally binding court decision.
