Beware: A New Type of Fraud Is Being Perpetrated
Victims of fraud have contacted Auroranews to report their experiences. They particularly mention that the scammers familiarize themselves with various sales platforms to see what products are being sold, place large orders, and issue fake account documents. They receive the products and send a bogus payment receipt. "They connect via Whatsapp, introduce themselves as representatives of a company, take orders for products, and emphasize that the delivery is very urgent, claiming they will come to collect it. They send us the requisites, we issue an invoice, and then they send a receipt as if they have made a transfer. After sending the goods, we noticed that there was no money in our account. We contacted the bank, where we were informed that the receipt is fake, and that account number does not exist," stated the director of one of the companies that reported the issue to us. The director also mentioned that he is already aware of several victims of the same situation, and they have approached the police, where appropriate actions are being taken.
The citizen also reported that he personally suffered a loss of 5 million drams. We urge all citizens to remain vigilant and not become the next victim of fraud.
