Fire Continues to Rage in Dilijan National Park

Firefighting operations have been underway for the second consecutive day in the Dilijan National Park. The information has been provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia.

On December 5, it was reported that most of the large and small hotspots of the fire that broke out in various sections of the third division of the Dilijan National Park have been isolated. Firefighting efforts are taking place over an area of approximately 12 hectares, involving around 260 rescuers from various regional centers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 35 employees of the Dilijan National Park, and 40 residents of nearby communities.

Due to complex terrain conditions, rescuers are delivering water to the fire hotspots using off-road vehicles and backpacks at an elevation of about 1 km. A total of 32 units of rescue and forestry equipment are engaged in the operations.

Present at the scene are the Director of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Deputy Minister, Colonel Kamo Tsutsulyan, the Deputy Director of the Emergency Situations service, Colonel Egor Karapetyan, and the Head of the Training Department of the Rescue Service, Colonel Armen Gevorgyan.

It is noteworthy that on December 4, information was received regarding the outbreak of fire in the third division of the Dilijan National Park, with reports indicating that shrubbery and wood debris were ablaze.
