EU to Develop Specific Proposals to Support Armenian Armed Forces, Ambassador Says

The European Union is set to develop specific proposals to support the Armenian armed forces. To that end, Brussels will send a technical mission to Yerevan soon, announced Vasilis Maragos, head of the EU delegation in Armenia, as reported by "1lurer.am".

He also emphasized that the EU plans to expand its observer mission operating in Armenia. According to Maragos, the 100-strong mission that arrived in Armenia this February has contributed to easing border tensions.

“We are preparing for the visit of the technical mission at the end of this year or the beginning of next year to formulate specific proposals in the area of non-lethal support. The EU fully understands the interest of Armenian society in developing cooperation with Brussels in the military sector, and we also understand the existing concerns. This is why we want to play a role in the peace agenda. We are currently working on developing cooperation through the 'European Peace Facility',” he added.
