Xi Jinping Meets with Lukashenko: Details

China is prepared to jointly defend international justice with Belarus. As reported by RIA Novosti, citing Chinese media, this statement was made by Chinese President Xi Jinping during a meeting in Beijing with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

"China is ready to support the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative together with Belarus, protecting international justice," stated the Chinese leader. He expressed that China aims to maintain close cooperation with Belarus and engage in mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in investment, trade, and other areas.

The Chinese President noted that Minsk has always shown steadfast support for Beijing on issues concerning its core interests, which China greatly appreciates.

Xi Jinping also emphasized that Beijing firmly supports Minsk in following its own development path and opposes external interference in the country's internal affairs. "China resolutely supports Belarus on the developmental path that aligns with its national realities and opposes external forces interfering in Belarus's domestic affairs under any pretext," said the President of China.

Xi Jinping indicated that China is willing to jointly explore cooperation potential with Belarus in various sectors, strengthen mutual political trust, facilitate the further development of Chinese-Belarusian relations, and provide more benefits to the peoples of both countries.

For his part, Lukashenko stated that the historical elevation of the relationship level has sent a powerful signal for deepening traditional directions and starting new vectors and mechanisms of cooperation between Minsk and Beijing. "Belarus has been, is, and will remain a reliable partner for China," he said.

According to Lukashenko, Belarus has long aligned itself with collaborating and befriending China. "This friendship has been over 30 years old, and we have never deviated from this path. Neither to the left nor to the right," noted the President of Belarus.

It should be mentioned that Lukashenko last visited China from February 28 to March 2 of this year. According to Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov, the economic results of the agreements reached and formalized during the visit exceeded 3.5 billion dollars. According to the Belarusian Ministry of Economy, in 2022, Belarusian-Chinese trade reached a record 5.8 billion dollars, with exports of Belarusian goods to China nearly doubling to 1.6 billion dollars.
