Azerbaijani Armed Forces Will Not Withdraw Their Positions from Armenian Territory: Tiran Khachatryan

The former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tiran Khachatryan, believes that the Azerbaijani armed forces will not withdraw their positions from Armenian territory. He stated this during a rally outside the National Assembly while answering journalists' questions.

“Until today, they are strengthening their positions both tactically and in terms of engineering. They hold strategic significance for them, which means they will not withdraw,” Khachatryan noted.

Addressing the topic of the 'fifth column' in the army during the 44-day war, the former deputy chief stated that he still does not know where this 'fifth column' is. And if Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan knows, it is unclear why he does not specify who the leaders of this 'fifth column' are.

“Baseless declarations aim to create unnecessary PR and divert public attention. Their goal has been capitulation, and to justify that, they need to find blame and various excuses,” Khachatryan declared.

It is worth noting that Tiran Khachatryan was dismissed from his position in February 2021 after criticizing Nikol Pashinyan's statement that the 'Iskander' missile exploded by 10 percent during the 44-day war in an interview with a media outlet.
