«How Long Can One Pretend That Everything Is Fine for the Sake of Power?» – Arman Tatoyan
The former Human Rights Defender of Armenia and director of the Tatoyan Foundation, Arman Tatoyan, raises an alarm: «How long can one pretend that everything is fine and that you control the solutions to the country’s security for the sake of power? You have brought forward unrealistic goals and concealed and masked Azerbaijani crimes to justify them. All of this has been done to maintain your political power due to nightmarish fears.
This has greatly diminished our country's chances of fighting for fundamental security solutions (for example, the establishment of a security zone around the borders of Armenia). In many respects, Azerbaijan has strengthened its positions, created legal [although artificial] bases for its actions, and reinforced anti-Armenian sentiment under the false guise of peace. Even now, they continue their criminal acts against our citizens in the same reckless manner, as unfortunately occurred today.
The price of this for us is the Homeland, the life of a soldier and civilian. Meanwhile, every Armenian soldier protects his Homeland from Azerbaijani criminal acts, defending the lives of those living in that Homeland, and their lives are under international protection.
For a long time, I have been proving with facts that the Azerbaijani authorities do not have peaceful intentions. Therefore, one thing is clear: as long as there are Azerbaijani armed servicemen near the villages and towns of Armenia, our citizens will continue to be in danger, and Azerbaijani criminal acts will persist as long as that country’s fascist government operates in an environment without accountability.
In this situation, what awaits peace is not an intersection, but a dead end.»
