Israel and Hamas Agree to Extend Ceasefire for One More Day

Israel and Hamas have agreed to extend the ceasefire for one more day, reports the Wall Street Journal, citing Egyptian officials.

"Israel and Hamas agreed on Thursday to extend the temporary ceasefire in Gaza for the eighth day," stated the Egyptian officials.

The arrangement is expected to lead to the release of an additional 10 hostages, primarily women and children, the magazine reports.

On Thursday morning, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the one-day extension of the humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which is set to end on Friday at 07:00 am.

Almost an hour before this deadline, the Israeli army announced airstrikes and rocket interceptions near the Palestinian enclave.

On November 22, Tel Aviv and Hamas reached the first extensive agreement through Qatari mediation following the escalation of conflict on October 7. The parties agreed to halt military operations for four days to facilitate the exchange of dozens of hostages and detainees.

The ceasefire went into effect on November 24 at 07:00 local time and was extended by two more days starting November 28.
