Residents of Gaza Return to Their Homes Despite Massive Destruction
Residents of Khan Younis city in the Gaza Strip are returning to their homes despite massive destruction and the lack of essential living conditions. This is reported by a correspondent from RIA Novosti.
Khan Younis has been subjected to extensive bombardments by Israel since the start of the military operations on October 7. Some neighborhoods have been completely destroyed. In buildings that have been partially damaged, electricity and water supply are absent.
“At the beginning of the war, we left our homes. After the ceasefire came into effect, we returned and saw this horror. There are no living conditions in our neighborhood,” said Abu Taim, a resident of the city, to the agency.
Some families have chosen to live in the ruins of their homes during the ceasefire days. People have been forced to cook food over open fires in the streets.
On Monday, Hamas and Israel, with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt, agreed to extend the four-day humanitarian ceasefire by another two days. Thus, the ceasefire is in effect until the morning of November 30. Media reports indicate that Egypt, Qatar, the U.S., and Israel are discussing the possibility of continuing the ceasefire.
