“If This Issue Is Not Resolved, I Will Put a Flashing Light on My Car in a Week and Let Them Try to Stop Me,” Arsen Torosyan

I have been demanding from the Ministry of Internal Affairs for a year now that all officials who have red and blue flashing lights on their vehicles, which by the way, both I and Mr. Gabrielyan (MP Sisak Gabrielyan) could also place on our cars, should not be in a better or higher position than us. This was stated today, on December 1, by MP Arsen Torosyan of the ruling Civil Contract party during a discussion on "The Role of the Police in Ensuring Road Traffic Safety." He enumerated which officials have vehicles that illegally travel with such flashing lights. These include vehicles serving and escorting the Attorney General of Armenia, the head of the Investigative Committee, the chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, and the head of the Central Bank, which do not have the right to have red and blue flashing lights, yet they operate that way.

“The most surprising thing is that this trend has become so widespread that now diplomatic representation vehicles are also seen driving around in this manner. What right does a vehicle serving the U.S. ambassador have to display red and blue flashing lights? What about the vehicle serving the Russian ambassador? Our diplomats are exhibiting exemplary behavior in other countries, and I expect them to display exemplary behavior in our country as well. Right now, I am publicly stating that if this issue is not resolved, in a week, I will put a flashing light on my car and let them try to stop me,” he said.
