What Samvel Babayan Said in the Closed Session of the Commission

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: During the meeting of the commission investigating the circumstances of the 44-day war, Samvel Babayan, the Secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh, was invited as a guest after expressing his desire to appear. He spoke for about 3 hours, providing testimony against Samvel Shahramanyan, and tried to convince the representatives of the ruling party that Shahramanyan was executing a planned coup in Artsakh through former presidents of Artsakh and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, aiming to transfer power there and subsequently execute a change of power in Armenia as well. However, it was agreed that details of the session would not be disclosed.

After the meeting, Babayan's comments during a brief conversation with journalists showcased his negative attitude towards Shahramanyan. He stated that the latter calls Baku every day, negotiates regarding the return of Artsakh residents. He mentioned that this information was relayed to him by the parliamentarians, whom Shahramanyan had personally informed, yet parliamentary member Metakse Hakobyan denied this in an interview with us: "I state with full responsibility that the president of Artsakh did not say such a thing to us; this is the first time I am hearing that such a thing allegedly occurred. I don't want to allow myself to say that Samvel Babayan is lying, because if he were, there wouldn't be an issue of denial; it would be quite normal for the president of Artsakh to carry out processes that would allow people to return to their homes."
