Siranush Sahakyan Reveals When the Trials of Artsakh's Military and Political Leaders May Begin

According to international law expert Siranush Sahakyan, the trials of the former military and political leaders of Artsakh, currently held captive in Baku, will not commence any sooner than six months from now. She believes that these trials will be show trials and will also have open components; however, as long as other captives' trials are not concluded, the cases of high-ranking individuals will be postponed.

During a discussion held at the Media Center today, Sahakyan also addressed the limited possibilities of involving international experts in organizing defense for captive Armenians, which are severely restricted under Azerbaijan's legal framework. Furthermore, existing opportunities within that country act as a deterrent.

Nonetheless, she has information indicating that there is a process underway to involve international experts for certain high-profile individuals who have been captured, although she refrained from disclosing their identities. It is worth noting that Ruben Vardanyan's family has announced efforts to engage international lawyers in organizing his defense.
