Reconstruction Works Planned for 300 Schools: Government Approves List of Schools
The government has approved the list of schools included in the "300 Schools to be Built, Renovated, or Reconstructed by 2026" program and has set criteria for the degree of intervention for construction, reconstruction, or renovation works for the schools included in the list.
Accordingly, the program aims to enhance the quality of education in educational institutions through improvements in infrastructure and building conditions. Over the coming years, reconstruction, renovation, and construction works are planned to be carried out in 300 schools to ensure proper provision of school buildings and communal infrastructure.
The action plan includes improving the building conditions of general education institutions, including ensuring seismic safety, constructing modular school buildings in areas with a small number of students, and carrying out other necessary renovation and reconstruction works. By 2030, similar works are planned to be conducted in 400 schools, with the target for 2026 set at 300 schools.
The goal of the 300 schools program is to ensure the availability of quality educational services in all regions of Armenia and Yerevan. A priority is the creation of laboratory infrastructure in all schools, which can provide a good basis for improving the quality and effectiveness of education in the sciences, aiming to implement education based on newly defined competencies.
An additional challenge is ensuring the presence of gymnasiums and playgrounds in schools, their satisfactory condition, and the availability of necessary equipment. There are various factors that contribute to the enhancement of education quality, and they complement each other, among which the improvement of building conditions of general education institutions is particularly significant, as well as creating a safe and secure environment and equipping schools with new furniture and equipment.
