Netanyahu Orders Calling in Spanish Ambassador Due to Prime Minister's Statements
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has instructed Foreign Minister Eli Cohen to summon the Spanish ambassador in Israel. This was reported by TASS.
The move comes in response to statements made by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who announced on November 22 that Madrid would soon be ready to recognize Palestine's independence.
The situation in the Middle East escalated on October 7, following the infiltration of thousands of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel, when Hamas declared the start of the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ operation. In response, Prime Minister Netanyahu announced that the country was in a state of war.
