Rumor of Mheran Poghosyan's Extradition Was Either Someone's Malicious Joke or Unfulfilled Dream: 'Hraparak'
'Hraparak' newspaper reports that about a week ago, news circulated in the Russian media claiming that former head of the DSS Mheran Poghosyan had been arrested on Tverskaya Street in Moscow and would soon be extradited to Armenia. It should be noted that the Armenian Prosecutor's Office had previously approached the Russian side with a request for his extradition but had been denied.
On the day the news broke, we attempted to clarify with the Prosecutor's Office whether it was true that Poghosyan was set to be handed over to Armenia, but they refrained from commenting, likely to maintain an air of mystery. A week later, we tried again to check for updates: were they extraditing Poghosyan or not? It became evident that the Prosecutor's Office enjoys intrigue, as they provided the same line—no comment.
Additionally, information later emerged indicating that Mheran Poghosyan had only been administratively detained due to a dispute with the traffic police and was subsequently released. Thus, the news about his extradition was either someone’s malicious joke or an unfulfilled dream.
