The public debt of Armenia has increased by 6.4 percent during the first nine months of 2023. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Finance Vahan Sirunyan during the meeting of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly, where he presented a report on the execution of the 2023 state budget for the first nine months.

According to him, the increase is proportional, as the exchange rate has not experienced significant fluctuations. While the central bank's debt has decreased, the government debt has increased by about 7 percent.

"The state debt amounted to 4 trillion 454 billion drams, compared to 4 trillion 186.7 billion drams at the end of the previous year. The external debt constituted 2 trillion 354 billion drams, while the internal debt reached 1 trillion 89 billion drams," he noted.
