Rocks of the Arpa River Gorge to Be Illuminated

The community administration of Jermuk has announced on its Facebook page that the rocks of the Arpa River gorge adjacent to the city of Jermuk will now be equipped with a modern lighting network.

The illumination project has been implemented jointly by the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Jermuk community administration through a subsidy program.

The Arpa River originates from the slopes of the Syunik plateau at an altitude of about 3260 meters and forms a deep gorge known as the Arpa Gorge. The river stretches for 128 kilometers.

On the left bank of the gorge is the notable Kndevank Monastery, which was built in 936 by the Princess Sophia of Syunik.
