Elon Musk Meets with Israeli President
The President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, welcomed Elon Musk, who arrived in Israel, at his residence in Jerusalem. In their conversation, the leader of the Jewish state pointed out the growing anti-Semitic sentiment in the world, including on social media, and urged Musk, who owns the X social network (formerly known as Twitter), to fight against this phenomenon.
“We are persecuted by anti-Semitism—hatred towards Jews. And hatred towards Jews affects people's behavior in many parts of the world, and you have a huge role to play here. We must work together to combat this, as the platforms you manage are unfortunately filled with hidden hate speech, which is anti-Jewish hatred—anti-Semitism. We need to fight this hatred to make the world a better, safer place,” Herzog said.
He thanked Musk for his visit, during which he toured Kfar Azza with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, one of the areas hardest hit by the Hamas attacks on October 7. “Your visit is of great significance to us, as the world is constantly changing, and you are at the forefront of many technologies and developments that humanity is waiting for. On the other hand, you saw how evil can triumph over everything. You saw it this morning; you witnessed what hatred can lead to, how the mind can turn into evil, hatred, and bloodshed. It is so close. And when looking at the future, using the most advanced technology on Earth, it becomes clear that humanity’s oldest disease—anti-Semitism—remains hidden and affects many societies,” the Israeli president added.
Musk agreed on the necessity of combating the spread of hatred, according to the Duke's office. “We have to do what is necessary to stop hatred. Essentially, these people have been fed propaganda since childhood. And it’s astonishing what people can do when they are fed lies. From a young age, they think that killing innocent people is good. This is the power propaganda can have on people's consciousness,” Musk stated.
